Etymology
Provenance
'Mangala Trayi' brings together three of the most beloved figures of Hindu devotion, Ganesha, Lakshmi and Krishna, as a matched set of Indo-Bauhaus paintings. Each deity is distilled into the circles, triangles and clean architectural planes of Bauhaus design, yet keeps the attributes that make them instantly recognisable, so the trio reads as one calm, unified composition when hung side by side.
On the left, Ganesha sits with eyes closed and one hand raised in blessing, his ochre ears and crown framing a deep blue face and a gently curled trunk. At the centre, Lakshmi sits upon a great layered lotus, holding a white lotus in each raised hand beneath a golden halo, her face divided into ivory and indigo halves. On the right, Krishna plays a long ochre flute, a peacock feather set in his dark hair. The three share a common vocabulary: an ochre sun at the upper left, an indigo arched window holding a single white lotus, and stepped plinths and lotus forms at the base.
Indigo, ochre, charcoal and warm ivory form the palette across all three panels, with the white lotuses as the brightest notes. Flat fields of colour and crisp edges give the set a graphic clarity, while the repeated sun, arch and lotus tie the paintings together as a single statement. Hung in a row, they suit a long wall above a sofa, console or sideboard, or a calm puja corner in a modern home.
