Etymology
Provenance
In a moment of wonder suspended between childhood and the infinite, Krishna reveals the universe within himself to Yashoda. His deep blue form becomes a vessel for an entire cosmos, where stars, planets, mountains, rivers, celestial figures, animals, and distant worlds unfold within his open mouth. Yashoda’s tender gesture and astonished gaze create an intimate contrast with the immeasurable world revealed before her.
The artwork draws upon the sacred episode of Krishna’s cosmic revelation, interpreted through the intricate visual language of Indian miniature and devotional art. Antique gold ornamentation, richly patterned textiles, elaborate jewellery, and earthy manuscript-like textures give the composition the character of an illuminated sacred narrative. The deep celestial blue of Krishna becomes a striking ground for the miniature universe contained within him, turning the act of revelation into a meditation on the infinite hidden within the familiar.
