Etymology
Provenance
Inspired by the sacred imagery of Indian devotional art, this artwork portrays Surya Dev, the radiant Sun God, at the centre of a celestial chariot drawn by seven horses. The horses move forward in perfect harmony beneath the watchful presence of the sun, evoking the eternal rhythm of light, time, and the movement of the cosmos.
Created in the style of traditional Indian devotional painting, the artwork blends bold outlines with intricate ornamentation and a refined, graphic aesthetic. The deep black background creates a striking contrast with the ivory horses, warm ochres, and golden detailing, while the symmetrical arrangement lends the composition a sense of balance and divine order.
A celebration of light, vitality, and celestial movement, this painting embodies the enduring symbolism of Surya Dev, where the sun becomes a source of life, energy, and the eternal passage of time.
