Frequently Asked Questions
Every Wooden Sculpture in our collection begins as a single block of wood, chosen for its grain and durability. Skilled artisans carve each detail by hand, drawing from traditional Indian techniques that have defined temple and folk art for centuries. No two sculptures are ever identical; each one carries the subtle marks of the craftsman who made it.
All of our Indian Wooden Sculptures are entirely handmade. The process involves sketching, carving, sanding, and oil finishing, often taking weeks to complete. Machines can replicate shapes, but they cannot reproduce touch, the irregular, organic precision that gives hand-carved wood its soul.
We primarily use ethically sourced hardwoods, a traditional choice for fine Indian sculpture. These woods are selected not just for strength but for the way they age, deepening in tone and developing character over time.
Keep your sculpture away from excessive humidity or direct sunlight. Wipe it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth, and if needed, apply a light coat of natural oil to preserve the finish. Wood breathes and changes with the environment, and small variations or minor cracks are part of its natural life cycle.
Many of our Indian Wooden Statues depict deities, mythological figures, and animals from India’s vast symbolic tradition. But you do not need to follow the religion to appreciate them. These pieces can be valued as expressions of art, heritage, and craftsmanship, connecting material and spirit regardless of belief. They belong as easily in a place of reflection as they do in a home that values culture and design.
