Provenance
The cobra has always lived at the edge of reverence and fear. In Indian mythology, serpents are not mere animals but beings that bridge the earthly and the divine. Known as Nāgas, they are guardians of treasure, rivers, and hidden knowledge. This brass sculpture captures that duality, the coiled body grounded in the earth, the hood flared wide like a crown, ready to strike or shelter.
Cobras are woven deeply into Hindu cosmology. Lord Shiva is draped with serpents, their coils a reminder of time’s endless cycles and the power of restraint. Vishnu rests upon Shesha, the thousand-headed serpent, floating on the cosmic ocean between worlds. Even the Buddha is said to have been sheltered by the hoods of Mucalinda, a great Nāga, during a storm.
To hold or display this cobra is to keep a fragment of those stories alive — the balance of danger and divinity, the reminder that power often comes wrapped in silence, coiled and waiting. Cast in brass, it speaks with permanence, a symbol of both protection and transformation.

About: Standing Soapstone Lampshade

I am over the moon with this beautiful piece. I had been looking for something to put on my parents headstone as none of us live near enough to tend it regularly. As they lived in India for many years, when I saw this I thought it would make a fitting tribute. Brahm Collection were brilliant, I can't thank them enough. When I'd done it my heart filled with joy and I know they would absolutely love it. Thank you all xxx
