Musicians announce the birth of the infant Krishna at Vraj, where he has been brought in secret to be raised safely among the cowherders, hidden from the murderous king Kamsa. The scene is from the Bhagavata Purana, the Sanskrit text that charts Krishna's life from childhood to divinity. The original was commissioned for a royal collection in the hill kingdoms of northern India and now hangs in the Cleveland Museum of Art. This print is the only way to own it.
