Inspired by Chapter Fourteen of the Bhagavad Gita, this print explores Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga, the Yoga of the Division of the Three Gunas. Krishna explains to Arjuna that all embodied existence is influenced by three fundamental qualities of material nature: Sattva, associated with purity and harmony; Rajas, associated with activity, desire, and attachment; and Tamas, associated with inertia, darkness, and ignorance.

The composition brings together contrasting realms of existence around a central scene of Krishna and Arjuna. Scenes of meditation, learning, contemplation, and serene natural landscapes appear alongside vibrant scenes of worldly activity, human ambition, conflict, and the intensity of material life. Together, these contrasting visual worlds reflect the shifting influence of the three Gunas and the different ways they shape human experience.

Rendered with intricate architectural details, ornamental borders, celestial imagery, landscapes, and narrative figures, the artwork draws from the visual richness of classical Indian manuscript traditions.
