Inspired by Chapter Fifteen of the Bhagavad Gita, this print depicts the Ashvattha tree, the cosmic tree of worldly existence whose branches spread throughout creation while its roots extend upward toward the divine. Krishna explains that this mysterious tree represents the material world, sustained by the three gunas and bound by the actions and desires of living beings. To attain liberation, one must recognize the transient nature of this existence and seek the eternal source beyond it.

The composition brings this teaching to life through an expansive, symbolic landscape. Krishna and Arjuna stand beneath the immense tree, while its countless branches unfold into scenes of human life, devotion, nature, kingdoms, spiritual practice, and the many experiences that make up worldly existence. The intricate foliage, celestial details, flowing forms, and miniature-like narrative scenes create the sense of an interconnected universe growing from a single cosmic source.

Drawing from the visual language of classical Indian miniature painting and manuscript traditions, the artwork combines deep blue, antique gold, earthy greens, and intricate ornamental detailing. The result is a contemplative representation of Purushottama Yoga, inviting reflection on the relationship between the material world, the eternal self, and the Supreme Being.
