Inspired by Chapter Seventeen of the Bhagavad Gita, this print explores the threefold nature of faith, known as Shraddha. Krishna explains to Arjuna that every person’s faith reflects their inner nature and is shaped by the three gunas — sattva, rajas, and tamas. Through these qualities, the chapter examines how faith influences worship, food, sacrifice, austerity, charity, and ultimately the way one lives and understands the world.

The composition presents this teaching through a richly layered series of sacred and worldly scenes. At the centre, Krishna speaks with Arjuna, while the surrounding sections depict different forms of worship, offerings, rituals, feasting, devotion, austerity, and material display. The contrast between the luminous upper scenes, the richly adorned royal setting, and the darker ritualistic imagery below reflects the varying qualities through which faith can express itself.

Drawing from the visual language of classical Indian miniature and manuscript traditions, the artwork combines ornate architecture, intricate figures, sacred ceremonies, natural motifs, and detailed narrative scenes. Rich blue, gold, terracotta, and earthy tones create an aged manuscript character, while the carefully divided composition transforms the philosophical teaching of the Gita into a visual exploration of faith, intention, and spiritual character.
