Provenance
This grey and white bone inlay cabinet traces its lineage to the cities of Rajasthan, where the sun hangs low over old sandstone forts and the scents of spices and sweets dirft through ancient courtyards. Bone inlay as a craft was born here in the 16th century, in workshops set up for Mughal and Rajput royalty. Men who measured wealth not just in gold, but in how a room felt.
The technique hasn't changed much. Ethically sourced slivers of bone are hand-carved and inlaid into wood with tweezer and patience; forming symmetrical dreams: florals, vines, geometry all etched into permanence. It's painstaking work. Quiet work. Passed from father to son, mother to daughter.
This piece wears its history lightly. The cool grey and white color palette gives it a contemporary ease, but its soul, make no mistake- remains antique. You can see it in the small imperfections. In the whisper of the Rajasthani desert inside its drawers. Whether used to store linen, secrets, or silverware, this cabinet doesn't just hold. It remembers.
