Krishna plays the flute beside a flowering tree as gopis gather around him, a scene associated with Gujari Ragini — a musical mode from the classical Ragamala system that linked specific melodies, emotions, and times of day to visual imagery. The Ragamala tradition translated the affective world of Indian classical music into paint, creating a genre that moved between art and performance. The original was commissioned for a royal collection in the hill kingdoms of northern India and now hangs in the Cleveland Museum of Art. This print is the only way to own it.
