Handmade Cows Pichwai Painting

Pichwai comes from “pichh” (behind) and “wai” (hanging), referring to cloth paintings placed behind temple icons in Nathdwara.
In Pichwai art, cows symbolize life, abundance, protection, and harmony, closely linked to Lord Krishna and pastoral devotion.

The best way to maintain the painting is to dust it periodically to keep it free from dirt. Use a soft, dry cotton cloth to gently wipe the surface without applying pressure. Avoid using sprays, water, or cleaning chemicals, as they may damage the natural pigments. Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and excess humidity to preserve its colours and fine detailing.
