Etymology
Provenance
Antaryami Lakshmi presents the goddess Lakshmi through a striking cubist interpretation, reducing her familiar iconography into layered geometric forms, planes, and earthy blocks of colour. Seated upon a lotus and holding lotus blossoms in her hands, her serene expression remains at the centre of the composition, surrounded by a pair of stylised elephants beneath an ornate canopy.
The painting brings together terracotta, muted rose, ochre, ivory, deep indigo, and olive green in a restrained, earthy palette. Angular forms and fragmented planes give the traditional imagery a contemporary rhythm, while the symmetrical composition retains the visual balance associated with classical devotional art.
Rather than reproducing Lakshmi in a traditional manner, the work reimagines her through abstraction and geometry, creating a dialogue between Indian iconography and modern cubist expression. The result is a contemplative artwork that feels rooted in tradition while remaining distinctly contemporary.
