Sarojini Naidu (1879–1949), known as the “Nightingale of India,” was a celebrated poet, orator, and freedom fighter. A prominent leader of the Indian National Congress and an associate of Mahatma Gandhi, she played an important role in India's independence movement. In 1947, she became the first woman Governor of an Indian state, leaving an enduring legacy of leadership, literature, and public service.
