Krishna reclines on a bed, alert and looking ahead, while two attendants stand at his feet holding a fan and peacock-feather whisk that he pays no attention to. The painting depicts the devotional idea of divine waiting: Krishna anticipating Radha is understood in Indian religious thought as God waiting for the soul to set aside the world and come to him. The original was commissioned for a royal collection in the hill kingdoms of northern India and now hangs in the Cleveland Museum of Art. This print is the only way to own it.
