Krishna raises Mount Govardhan on one finger like an umbrella, sheltering his community of cowherders from the storms sent by Indra, who was furious at being denied his annual offerings. Below Krishna, Indra kneels in surrender — the king of the gods humbled by the cowherd. The original was commissioned for a royal collection in the hill kingdoms of northern India and now hangs in the Cleveland Museum of Art. This print is the only way to own it.
