A rare imperial Mughal portrait, this work captures Raja Jagat Singh of Nurpur at a pivotal moment in his life, likely commemorating his elevation to princely rank in 1619. Attributed to the renowned court painter Bichitr, the painting combines exceptional portraiture with a compelling historical narrative linking the Himalayan kingdoms to the Mughal court of Jahangir and Nur Jahan. Rich in political and cultural significance, it stands as an elegant testament to one of the most sophisticated portrait traditions in Indian art. The original artwork is preserved in the Cleveland Museum of Art. This print is the only way to own it.
