Provenance
Where honour rides in gold and silk.
This hand-painted silk paintig brings to life a royal procession of the Maharaja of Mewar, a dynasty renowned for its chivalry, resistance and spiritual authority in the region now known as Udaipur. Riding a lavishly decorated elephant and surrounded by noblemen, warriors and horsemen, the Maharaja is set against the rolling Aravalli hills, evoking the grandeur of a bygone era.
Crafted on a silk backdrop, the artwork gleams with a natural sheen, silk's hallmark. From the embroidery on the royal garments to the ceremonial weapons and turbans, each stroke narrates the glory of a king and his people.
Historically, such paintings were comissioned by royals to commemorate ceremonies, processions and victories. This piece stands in that tradition, as a visual heirloom echoing the pageantry of India's regal past.
Whether framed as a statement piece or part of a curated collection, The Maharaja's Royal Procession is a celebration of silk and storytelling.
