Provenance

Three other attendants arrange themselves around her, their tasks distributed and unhurried. The scene is composed with the specific attentiveness Pahari artists brought to court interiors — the ewers and water pots in the background noted, the handmaiden's costume deliberately recalling older Chamba painting conventions, a thread of visual memory woven into a later work.
