Art Print – “Vagdevi”: Goddess Saraswati with Veena and Swan

Provenance

Vagdevi presents Goddess Saraswati standing gracefully before a burst of flame-orange petals, set within a deep navy field and cream border inscribed in Devanagari. Her name, 'Saraswati', appears at the top, and beneath the image runs the opening of the Saraswati Vandana, 'Ya Kundendu Tushara Hara Dhavala'.

Saraswati plays the veena with two of her hands, while the others hold a rosary of pearls and a palm-leaf manuscript. She wears a cream sari bordered in gold with a green blouse and a pink shawl, jewelled necklaces and a golden crown, and a white swan, her vahana, sits at her feet. Budding branches rise on either side, their blossoms echoing the flame-like petals behind her.

Vivid orange and coral petals blaze against the navy ground, while the goddess's ivory, gold and emerald attire provides a cool, luminous centre. The careful symmetry, crisp outlines and generous cream margin give the print a clear, devotional presence suited to study, music rooms and contemplative spaces.
